FORGING Our manufacturing process begins by heating raw metal to over 1,000 degrees and shaping it between two dies on a forging hammer using impact force. This Forging process provides the desired shape and also benefits by aligning the grain flow to obtain hardness and strength.

HEAT TREATMENT After forging and some machining, the pliers undergo heat treatment processes. During the heating and cooling stages of this process, the metal's properties, such as strength, hardness, ductility, elasticity, and wear resistance, are improved or altered. Our pliers are heated and cooled under tight controls and receive additional induction hardening on the cutting area to achieve an ideal balance of these properties on each part for superior durability.

SHARPENING The heat-treated pliers in the best condition are polished and assembled before proceeding to the sharpening process, which is the most crucial step in determining their cutting performance. Our pliers are sharpened piece by piece by experienced artisans using hand-work. Any slight deformation caused by the heat treatment process is adjusted, and the pliers obtain the best cutting performance with the optimal edge thickness and angle for each purpose.

Fine Adjusted Nose Tip Needle nose pliers equipped with cutting edges necessarily have more or less gap on the tips. This is an inevitable consequence of equipping cutting edges, which need to meet perfectly to fulfill their function. The nose tips are purposely designed not to meet, to prevent interference with the cutting function.

On TSUNODA long nose pliers, the tips appear to be perfectly closed. However, these tips are finely adjusted manually piece by piece due to the individual differences in distortion during the heat treatment process, and they are finished to maintain an invisible gap of under 0.03".
