Tsunoda CA-22 Cable Cutter (6-Inch)
Our manufacturing process begins by heating raw metal to over 1,000 degrees and shaping it between two dies on a forging hammer using impact force. This Forging process provides the desired shape and also aligns the grain flow to obtain hardness and strength.
After forging and some machining, the pliers enter heat treatment processes. During the heating and cooling stages, the metal properties are improved or changed in terms of strength, hardness, ductility, elasticity, or wear resistance. Our pliers are heated and cooled under tight controls, and the cutting area receives extra induction hardening to achieve an ideal balance of these properties for superior durability.
The heat-treated pliers in the best condition are then polished and assembled to proceed to the sharpening process, which is the most important step in determining their cutting performance. Our pliers are sharpened piece by piece by experienced artisans using hand-work. Any slight deformation caused by the heat treatment process is adjusted, and the pliers obtain the best cutting performance with the optimal edge thickness and angle for each purpose.
Tsunoda's cable cutters are designed to provide an Effortless & Clean cut. They feature heat-treated, durable forged steel and a PVC non-slip handle grip, and are made in Japan. When cutting electric wires with ordinary cutting pliers, the cutting force disperses sideways due to the flexibility of the wire cover, causing crush on the cut wire ends. Tsunoda's cable cutters, however, have curved edges optimized for cutting electric wires. These blades surround the target to block the dispersion of cutting force, allowing for easy cutting without crushing the ends.
